Elaine’s Teaching Philosophy
I am always striving to stay up to date on all of the latest golf biomechanical science information which helps us understand how golfers, of all ages and skill levels, can swing more efficiently to optimum distance and accuracy while avoiding injury.
I have received Golf Biomechanics Certifications from:
*Penn State University
*Titleist Performance Institute (TPI); TPI Certified Level 1, TPI Golf Level 2, TPI Power Level 2
*Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon (Biomechanist at Texas Women's University)
*Dr. Phil Cheetham; Forces and Motion (Director of Sports Technology and Innovation at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee)
*Dr. Sasho Mackenzie; Forces and Motion (Professor of Sports Biomechanics at St. Francis Xavier University)
*Dr. Scott Lynn; Swing Catalyst (Professor of Kinesiology and Biomechanics at California State Fullerton University).
I feel to be an effective instructor you have to have a deeper understanding of how the body moves to create energy and power for maximum distance while maintaining maximum accuracy. This deeper understanding of Golf Biomechanics has given me the ability to reduce the most complex concepts into their simplest terms and feelings to enhance a student's learning experience.
I believe we all have the ability to “get better” at this great game no matter what your current skill level. Even the top professional players are consistently trying to “get better”. There is an awesome feeling of accomplishment and joy when you can take your golf game to the next level and I would be thrilled to assist you in obtaining your golfing goals.
There is certainly no lack of access to golf instruction information in the world today but yet statistically golfers are not improving vastly due to most golf instruction information being incomplete and mixing concepts which, unbeknownst to the golfer, can unfortunately create more undesirable issues rather than long term improvement. My goal is to provide all my students, from the beginner to the accomplished player, with a complete understanding of the golf swing, short game, and playing principles so that they can enjoy a lifetime of game improvement.
I am so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the world and learn from some of the best teachers in the golf industry throughout the country. Through my many years of playing, teaching, and studying the golf swing, I have learned the body moves most efficiently in certain patterns which gives the golfer the ability to consistently strike the golf ball with the most sustained power.
Once a golfer can “feel” this movement pattern, it opens the door to limitless enjoyment, efficiency, and understanding of the game. To enhance the learning process, high speed video, a launch monitor/simulator, and other analytic tools are used to provide students with visual information about their swings along with their chipping and putting techniques. Movement drills are also provided so the students can “feel” proper motion. “Visualization” and “feel” are the cornerstones to heightened learning and improvement.
The great Ben Hogan was once quoted as saying “Every day you miss playing or practicing is one day longer it takes to be good”. Our indoor teaching facility, which includes a hitting area and putting green, gives me the ability, even during inclement weather, to teach all aspects of the game utilizing all my teaching tools so a student will not have to miss a day of instruction making them a day closer to achieving their golfing goals.
